The trailer opens with an intense exchange between Sam Wilson and an incarcerated Isaiah Bradley, played by Carl Lumbly. Dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit, Bradley appears unsettled as he warns Wilson, “Whatever this is, Cap, be careful.” This ominous start hints at a deepening conflict involving U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, portrayed by Harrison Ford, whose transformation into the formidable Red Hulk creates a powerful new adversary for Wilson’s Captain America.

Directed by Julius Onah and written by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton, Brave New World follows Sam Wilson as he grapples with his role as the new symbol of freedom. Ford’s President Ross seeks to officially recruit Wilson as a U.S. agent, adding layers of tension and intrigue. But before Sam can decide on Ross’s offer, he is thrust into action, confronting a nefarious global plot and facing Ross in his Red Hulk form.

Alongside Mackie and Ford, the film’s cast includes Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, Shira Haas as Sabra, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, and Carl Lumbly returning as Isaiah Bradley. The trailer’s 2-minute-37-second run time delivers exhilarating scenes, with Wilson’s Captain America navigating a perilous world where friends and foes alike challenge his resolve.

This film marks Mackie’s first major appearance as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following his journey from Falcon to Cap in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which received critical acclaim and five Emmy nominations. Captain America: Brave New World promises to deliver the politically charged suspense fans enjoyed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, bringing familiar Marvel themes of loyalty, identity, and justice into a fresh, bold narrative.

As the MCU ventures deeper into its Phase 5 slate, Brave New World sets the stage for an era where Wilson’s Captain America embodies the complexities of modern heroism.
