‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Scores an Early Season 3 Renewal at Disney+

Percy Jackson and the Olympians renewed

Disney+ isn’t wasting any time when it comes to Percy Jackson’s epic journey. The streamer has officially renewed Percy Jackson and the Olympians for a third season—before Season 2 has even hit our screens.

Season 2, which wrapped production in August, is set to premiere this December and will adapt The Sea of Monsters, the second book in Rick Riordan’s best-selling fantasy series. Season 3, now confirmed, will bring The Titan’s Curse to life, meaning fans can expect some major shakeups, new allies, and even bigger threats in Percy’s world.

This early renewal signals that Disney is all in on Percy Jackson and the Olympians—and with good reason. The show’s debut was a major success, ranking among the top five most-watched original series across all streaming platforms during its premiere week, according to Nielsen.

Rick Riordan, the mastermind behind the books and a key figure in the show’s production, expressed his excitement, saying: “We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time. It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”

Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis also shared the enthusiasm: “From the moment Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages. With season two set to premiere this December, we’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season.”

While locking in another season this early may seem surprising, it’s actually a strategic move. The show’s young stars—Walker Scobell (Percy), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth), and Aryan Simhadri (Grover)—are growing up fast. Riordan has been clear that he wants each book to be adapted into a single season, meaning the production schedule needs to keep up with its youthful cast. The last thing Disney wants is for Percy to hit his “growth spurt” too soon while the character is still supposed to be 13.

With The Titan’s Curse as the next installment, fans can look forward to the introduction of some major players, including the children of Hades—Nico and Bianca di Angelo—and the Hunters of Artemis. This season will raise the stakes as Percy and his allies face new foes and navigate the ever-growing threats posed by Kronos and his forces.

Meanwhile, Season 2 will dive into The Sea of Monsters, following Percy’s return to Camp Half-Blood as he grapples with major revelations, including the existence of his half-brother, Tyson. With camp under siege and Grover missing, Percy must journey into the treacherous Sea of Monsters to restore order before it’s too late.

Returning for Season 2 are series leads Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri, alongside Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and new additions Tamara Smart (Thalia Grace), Daniel Diemer (Tyson), and Andra Day (Athena). The season will also mark the introduction of Courtney B. Vance as Zeus, following the passing of Lance Reddick.

With the fandom locked in and Disney putting its weight behind the series, it looks like Percy Jackson and the Olympians is here to stay for the long haul. Now, the countdown begins for December—and beyond
