Prime Video has dropped the trailer for the upcoming Nigerian supernatural thriller, Suspicion, directed by Tosin Igho. Set to stream globally on November 28, the film is a blend of ancient African mysticism and modern moral dilemmas.
Stan Nze (RattleSnake: The Ahanna Story, Colourless) stars as Voke, a man driven to seek justice after his goddaughter’s brutal murder. Armed with ancient Juju powers, Voke’s journey is an exploration of vengeance, justice, and the deep-rooted complexities of African spiritual traditions.
Joining Nze is a stellar ensemble cast featuring Omowunmi Dada, Kalu Ikeagwu, Uzor Arukwe, Shaffy Bello, and Richard Mofe-Damijo, who also serves as an executive producer. The film offers a rare cinematic dive into the power and consequences of traditional African magic.
“African powers aren’t just about spectacle; they’re deeply rooted in moral responsibilities and consequences,” Igho shared with Variety, who exclusively reported this news. “Traditional African magic has always been about balance. When you dish out vengeance, you must be prepared to taste its bitterness yourself.”
Stan Nze echoed this sentiment, highlighting the film’s cultural depth: “Suspicion is more than a story of supernatural vengeance; it’s an exploration of justice through an African lens. This film challenges us to confront the moral costs of power and dives into the soul of Nigerian culture, where justice, vengeance, and tradition collide in unexpected ways.”
Produced by Igho’s Divergent Films, the movie utilizes a mix of practical effects and CGI to bring its supernatural elements to life. As a Prime Video Original, Suspicion will be available to audiences worldwide, marking another significant milestone for Nigerian cinema on the global stage.
Prepare for a haunting journey into the heart of mysticism and morality when Suspicion premieres this November on Prime Video.
