RENEWED: ‘Bel-Air’ to End with Fourth Season on Peacock

Peacock’s Bel-Air is returning for one final season, concluding the modern reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The series, which helped establish Peacock as a contender in original programming, has been renewed for a fourth season, set to be its last. Unlike its previous seasons, which consisted of 10 episodes each, the final chapter will feature eight episodes, according to sources.

The renewal comes three months after the season three finale premiered on september 5. Behind-the-scenes budget discussions reportedly delayed the announcement, a contrast to the series’ past renewals, such as its season three pickup, which occurred before the second season finale aired.

Bel-Air became a cornerstone for Peacock after the platform secured the series in 2020 amidst intense competition. Inspired by Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute concept trailer, the project was given a rare two-season order upfront. It marked Peacock’s first major commission and went on to become the streamer’s inaugural hit series.

Jabari Banks leads the cast as Will, a character originally portrayed by Will Smith in the iconic 1990s sitcom. He is joined by Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones. Over the course of its run, Bel-Air also welcomed appearances from notable guest stars, including members of the original Fresh Prince cast such as Tatyana Ali, Joseph Marcell, Vernee Watson-Johnson, and Daphne Maxwell Reid, alongside Bianca Belair, Marlon Wayans, Saweetie, Dulé Hill, and others.

Carla Banks Waddles, who has been with the series since its inception, has served as showrunner since season two. She executive produces alongside Morgan Cooper, Will Smith, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Benny Medina, Quincy Jones, and series creators Andy and Susan Borowitz. The show is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in collaboration with Westbrook Studios, the media company founded by Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith.

Bel-Air’s cultural impact extended beyond its gripping drama, blending nostalgia with fresh narratives. As fans prepare to bid farewell, the final season aims to bring the story full circle, celebrating its legacy as a transformative force for Peacock’s streaming platform.
