South African Telenovela ‘The Four of Us’ Lands on Netflix Alongside e.tv Debut [TRAILER]

Tshedza Pictures’ highly anticipated new telenovela The Four of Us has secured a Netflix home, with the streamer acquiring the series ahead of its premiere. The show debuts Monday, June 29 at 8:00 PM on e.tv, with episodes streaming on Netflix the following day.

The dual-platform deal marks a significant milestone for South African storytelling, bringing the series to a global audience from the start of its run. On e.tv, the show takes over the prime 8 PM slot previously held by the long-running soap Scandal!, which aired for 23 years, and launches the channel’s new Golden Hour weeknight drama block.

Set against a backdrop of wealth, power and family rivalry, The Four of Us centers on the influential Dhlomo family as old wounds, power struggles and long-held resentments threaten to tear them apart. Its tagline says it plainly: Family by birth. Rivals by choice.

Leading the cast is Sindi Dlathu as Busani Dhlomo, the fiercely principled eldest sibling who has spent her life carrying the burden of family responsibility. Sdumo Mtshali plays Bobbi Dhlomo, a charismatic and ambitious man who has spent years feeling overshadowed and is now ready to fight for his rightful place. Thembinkosi Mthembu stars as Banzi Dhlomo, the overlooked middle sibling whose search for validation fuels much of the family’s emotional conflict, while Kealeboga Masango plays the youngest Dhlomo, a free spirit weighed down by unresolved grief.

The ensemble also includes Rami Chuene as Vera, Dumisani Dlamini as Papi, Sibongile Nojila as family matriarch Masechaba Dhlomo, Seipati Mahamu, Lebohang Lephatsoane, Nombulelo Letsosa, Pascaline Phale, Nthabiseng Kgosana, Scelo Buthelezi, Hope Mbhele, Quinton Madlala and Tebogo Malapane.

The Four of Us is produced by Tshedza Pictures.

The series arrives on the heels of a breakthrough moment for South African drama on Netflix. Tshedza Pictures’ previous series The Polygamist became a global phenomenon upon its June 2026 release, reaching No. 4 on Netflix’s global non-English chart and landing in the top 10 in 63 countries, including the United States, within its first two weeks. The 22-episode telenovela drew 19.1 million viewing hours in its opening week and hit No. 1 in 16 countries, cementing South African storytelling as a force on the global streaming stage.

The series sparked passionate and polarizing debate, with audiences and critics widely divided over its portrayal of male infidelity versus cultural traditions around polygamy. Gugu Gumede’s performance as Joyce, the fiery and vengeful first wife, emerged as the emotional heartbeat of the show, drawing widespread praise, while Mtshali’s manipulative patriarch Jonasi Gomora left viewers simultaneously outraged and addicted. The show was widely described as compulsive viewing, with audiences across Reddit and TikTok debating its themes long after binging through its twists and betrayals.

With The Four of Us now landing on the same platform and featuring Mtshali in a leading role, Netflix’s growing investment in South African drama appears to be deepening, and appetite from global audiences shows no signs of slowing.
