After seven seasons of laughs, family moments, and neighborhood antics, CBS has officially renewed The Neighborhood for its eighth—and final—season. But if you think this is the last time you’ll see these characters, don’t be so sure. The hit sitcom has already given birth to one spinoff (Crutch starring Tracy Morgan), and another potential offshoot is waiting in the wings.

Despite being a steady performer for CBS, The Neighborhood found itself on shaky ground this year when it wasn’t included in the network’s early renewal list. While fans were left wondering if the sitcom was on the chopping block, the wait is over—The Neighborhood is coming back for one last hurrah in the 2025-26 season.

President of CBS Entertainment, Amy Reisenbach, praised the show’s impact, saying, “The brilliant cast and creative team at The Neighborhood, led by the incomparable Cedric the Entertainer, have brought levity, laughter, and poignant storylines to Monday nights for seven incredible seasons. A strong ratings performer for CBS and one of the top comedies on TV, we believe the show’s loyal fans deserve a proper farewell season full of the trademark humor and heartfelt moments that are synonymous with the series.”

While the renewal is great news, it didn’t come without some behind-the-scenes negotiations. By its seventh season, The Neighborhood had become an expensive show to produce—big-name talent comes with big contracts. But deals were made, and CBS made sure that the cast, including Cedric the Entertainer, Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, Tichina Arnold, Sheaun McKinney, Marcel Spears, Hank Greenspan, and Skye Townsend, could all return for one final run.

Here’s where things get interesting. The Season 7 finale, which has already been filmed, isn’t just a regular episode—it’s a backdoor pilot for a proposed spinoff that follows Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney) and Marty (Marcel Spears) as they move to Venice Beach. That means, while The Neighborhood might be ending, its world could live on with a new series.

CBS has yet to officially greenlight the Malcolm-and-Marty spinoff, but the show was designed to run alongside The Neighborhood—so if it gets the green light, expect the finale season to help launch the next chapter.

Meanwhile, the franchise is already expanding beyond CBS. Crutch, another Neighborhood spinoff starring Tracy Morgan, is set to debut later this year on Paramount+. Instead of reprising his Season 4 character, Morgan will play a new role, Francois “Frank” Crutchfield, a Harlem widower whose plans for an empty nest get flipped upside down when his grown kids move back home.

With The Neighborhood locked in for one last season, attention now turns to the rest of CBS’ comedy lineup. Freshman sitcom Poppa’s House is still waiting on a renewal decision, while dramas like The Equalizer and Watson are also on the bubble. Watson, the new medical drama starring Morris Chestnut, is looking good for a return, but no official word yet.

For now, The Neighborhood fans can breathe easy knowing the series will get a proper sendoff. And who knows—by the time Season 8 wraps, there might be a whole new neighborhood to move into.
