Netflix has recently released the official trailer for The Upshaws season 4 ahead of its premiere on August 17. In the trailer we’re introduced to two new faces, Jenifer Lewis and Marsha Warfield.
In the upcoming season, Jenifer Lewis will portray Dr. Pearl Edmunds, a no-nonsense therapist for Regina (Kim Fields), who plays Bennie Upshaw’s wife. Dr. Edmunds will help Regina find a balance between her personal well-being, mental health, and the numerous family obligations she faces. On the other hand, Marsha Warfield’s role in the series has not been disclosed yet.

‘The Upshaws,’ created by Regina Y. Hicks and Wanda Sykes, revolves around Bennie Upshaw (Mike Epps), a charming and well-intentioned mechanic, and his attempts to care for his working-class Black family in Indianapolis. The show follows Bennie’s journey as he tries to manage his family life, including his wife Regina, their two young daughters, his firstborn son, and the teenage son he shares with another woman, while also tolerating his sharp-witted sister-in-law (Wanda Sykes).
The show’s executive producers, Mike Epps, Wanda Sykes, Regina Y. Hicks, Page Hurwitz, Niles Kirchner, Annie Levine Emerson, and Jonathan Emerson, have been instrumental in shaping the show’s narrative and ensuring its continued success.
Season 4 promises to bring new challenges and adventures for the Upshaw family, including new job opportunities, bigger dreams, health struggles, and surprising life events. Despite the obstacles, the family remains united, navigating through life’s ups and downs with love and determination.
