Starz has dropped the official trailer for its limited series “Three Women,” based on Lisa Taddeo’s bestselling book. The series, which stars Betty Gilpin, Shailene Woodley, DeWanda Wise, and Blair Underwood, will debut on Friday, September 13, at midnight on the Starz app and at 10 p.m. ET/PT on the Starz channel.
The announcement comes after the show was canceled by Showtime in early 2023 amid its merger with Paramount+. Starz has since picked up the series, providing it with a new platform for the 10-episode series, offering a glimpse into the intense and intimate journeys of its characters. The series delves into the complexities of women’s desires, told through the intertwined stories of three women.
Shailene Woodley, known for her roles in “Big Little Lies” and “The Fault in Our Stars,” plays Gia, a character loosely based on Taddeo. Gia embarks on a cross-country road trip to document the personal and often hidden stories of three women. In a poignant voiceover in the trailer, Gia reflects on the audacity these women had to seek more from life, a journey that ultimately transforms her as well.
Gia meets each of them separately on her travels, embeds herself in their lives, and convinces them to share their experiences to help others like them. “More than I wanted to tell their stories, I wanted to hear them,” Gia shares, another indication of how non-stop Woodley’s voiceovers are going to be.

The titular series that “explores female desire” finds the three women on a crash course to radically overturn their lives. Lina (Gilpin), a homemaker in suburban Indiana, is a decade into a passionless marriage when she embarks on an affair that quickly becomes all-consuming and transforms her life.
Sloane (Wise), a glamorous entrepreneur in the Northeast, has a committed open marriage with Richard (Underwood), until two sexy new strangers threaten their aspirational love story. Maggie (Gabrielle Creevy), a student in North Dakota, weathers an intense storm after accusing her married English teacher (Jason Ralph) of an inappropriate relationship. Gia (Woodley), a writer grieving the loss of her family, persuades each of these three spectacular “ordinary” women to tell her their stories, and her relationships with them change the course of her life forever.
The series is helmed by Laura Eason as showrunner, with Lisa Taddeo serving as creator and executive producer alongside Kathy Ciric and Emmy Rossum. The adaptation promises to stay true to the raw and unfiltered essence of Taddeo’s book, exploring the profound depths of female desire and resilience.
