Trevor Jackson is heading back to the Disney family — this time trading college life for the fast-paced halls of Grey Sloan Memorial.
The grown-ish alum has been cast in Grey’s Anatomy and will make his debut in episode 2117, the penultimate episode of the current season, airing May 8. He’ll also appear in the Season 21 finale, with the option to become a series regular if the series is renewed for a 22nd season — which is widely expected to be announced soon.
Jackson’s character is described as a confident, intelligent man in his late 20s who recently relocated to Seattle. While details about the role are being kept under wraps, there’s speculation he may join the hospital staff as either a new surgical intern or resident — a timely addition given the recent departures of Mika (Midori Francis) and Levi (Jake Borelli).
The opportunity to join a long-running hit like Grey’s Anatomy doesn’t come often, and Jackson’s casting was reportedly highly competitive. The role drew interest from a number of emerging actors eager to join the landmark medical drama, which remains a staple on ABC after more than two decades.
This marks a full-circle moment for Jackson, who is no stranger to Disney-backed projects. He starred opposite Yara Shahidi in the black-ish spinoff grown-ish for all six seasons and previously appeared in Season 2 of American Crime alongside Regina King. His career began in theater, playing Young Simba in the national tour of The Lion King, followed by a starring turn in Broadway’s The Tap Dance Kid.
Jackson is represented by Independent Artist Group and Myman Greenspan Fox.
With Grey’s Anatomy continuing to evolve while maintaining its cultural relevance, Jackson’s addition signals another compelling shift for the series as it gears up for its next chapter.
