Tubi Unveils Trailer for Original Coming-of-Age Comedy Drama Series ‘Boarders’

Tubi, the ad-supported video-on-demand service, has recently dropped the trailer for its coming-of-age British teen dramedy series, “Boarders.” Acquired from BBC, the series will debut as a Tubi Original in North America on March 8, featuring all six hour-long episodes.

“Boarders,” crafted and scripted by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, boasts an ensemble cast of emerging talents, including Josh Tedeku, Jodie Campbell, Myles Kamwendo, Sekou Diaby, and Aruna Jalloh. The narrative, directed by Ethosheia Hylton and Sarmad Masud, unfolds the lives of five Black inner-city school teenagers who secure scholarships to St. Gilberts, one of Britain’s oldest and most prestigious boarding schools. The series delves into their journey as they navigate a new world, forming friendships and embarking on journeys of self-discovery within the challenges of a prestigious institution.

Daniel Lawrence Taylor, renowned for his work on the ITV2 sitcom “Timewasters,” expressed enthusiasm about bringing “Boarders” to North America, emphasizing the universal themes of belonging, achievement, friendship, and the awkwardness of adolescence. Tubi’s VP of Content Acquisitions and Partnerships, Sam Harowitz, highlighted the platform’s commitment to offering diverse global programming, anticipating resonance with Tubi’s engaged audience.

The cast also includes Derek Riddell, Niky Wardley, Harry Gilby, Tallulah Greive, Rosie Graham, Georgina Sadler, and Assa Kanoute, each contributing to the dynamic storytelling. In the series, students grapple with the high expectations at St. Gilberts, as seen in the official trailer where a school official sets the tone, saying, “We expect every new pupil to uphold them.”

“Boarders,” produced by Studio Lambert in association with All3Media International for the BBC, is slated for its North American debut in the first quarter of 2024.
