Tubi Scores Big: Super Bowl LIX to Stream Live and Free on the Platform for the First Time

While the NFL hasn’t revealed which teams will battle it out in Super Bowl LIX, we already know the first big winner of the event: Tubi.

Fox announced that its free, ad-supported streaming service will carry Super Bowl LIX live on February 9, 2025, marking the first time the big game will stream on the platform. In an era of pricey streaming subscriptions, Tubi is bringing the game to viewers in glorious 4K—at no cost. All you need is an account, a stable Wi-Fi connection, and maybe some chips and guac to complete the experience.

This is Tubi’s most significant live sporting event to date, a major leap for the platform, which Fox acquired in 2020. Earlier this month, Tubi reported a staggering 97 million monthly active users, and this move is poised to reel in even more. For those keeping track, that’s a lot of eyeballs and a massive opportunity for advertisers. Also to get fans ready for the big day, starting January 28, Tubi will also add past Super Bowls, halftime shows and other NFL programming to its roster through the period around the big game.

But wait—there’s more. Tubi’s coverage of the Super Bowl will include a pre-game “Red Carpet” special hosted by Olivia Culpo at 3:30 p.m. ET, giving viewers a dose of fashion, culture, and celebrity chatter before kickoff. The stream will feature the same commercials as the broadcast, so you won’t miss the big-budget ads everyone debates over on Monday morning.

This year’sSuper Bowl will feature Kendrick Lamar as the halftime headliner and he will most likely have the world singing “Not Like Us” far after the game ends. The Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning artist will take center stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans as part of the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. Jay-Z’s Roc Nation is returning for its sixth year producing the show, continuing its run of cultural and commercial hits. After earning an Emmy for Rihanna’s 2023 performance and shattering records with Usher’s show in 2024, expectations are sky-high.

This is a notable pivot for Fox, which streamed Super Bowl LVII only through its own digital outlets and required cord-cutters to rely on costly live TV services. By making the game freely available on Tubi, Fox is not only spotlighting its streaming service but also cutting into the black market of illegal game-day streams, which attracted about 17 million viewers last year.

And for those who dread working during the Super Bowl, Tubi has your back. The platform will make it easy to catch the game on your phone or tablet, no cable subscription or sneaky login needed.

Super Bowl LIX will also be available on Fox, Fox Deportes, Telemundo, Fox’s website, and the NFL Plus app. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET, and if history is any indication, it’s going to be a blockbuster. Last year’s game pulled in over 123 million viewers, and with Kendrick Lamar and Tubi’s accessibility, this year’s numbers could soar even higher.
