Retta is back with her signature sass and side-eyes, and this time, she’s doubling down. HGTV has officially renewed both Ugliest House in America and Scariest House in America for new seasons, giving the actress and comedian another round of nightmare tours across the country—equal parts funny and frightening.
“I’m back looking at ugly houses in America babeee!” Retta shared in a statement that’s as on-brand as ever. “And yes, I am also back (with much less enthusiasm) to look at the scary ones. Look, between that months-long SAG strike and the current uncertainty of the market, Mami needs the work. This mortgage won’t pay itself.”
Let the church say amen.
The network has ordered 12 new episodes split between the two series. Both shows send Retta on the road, where she visits homes nominated by folks who believe their property is either the eyesore of the block—or straight-up haunted.
Ugliest House in America
Back for its sixth season in 2026, Ugliest House in America continues its search for the most outrageous interior disasters and design don’ts. From lime green shag carpet to kitchen islands shaped like coffins (yes, really), Retta will once again tour these homes with her hilarious commentary front and center.
Last season brought in over 10.3 million viewers, and this new batch of six episodes promises more cringe-worthy layouts, baffling color choices, and “what were they thinking?” design decisions. At the end of the season, one home will be crowned the ugliest of them all—and as a consolation prize, it’ll be transformed with a $150,000 renovation courtesy of HGTV designer Alison Victoria.
Scariest House in America
Meanwhile, Scariest House in America is back just in time for spooky season. Set to return this September, Season 2 will explore six terrifying homes across the Midwest, Northeast, and South. Whether it’s the ghost of a Civil War soldier in the attic or a staircase that leads to nowhere (but bad decisions), Retta will brave them all—reluctantly, of course.
The series’ first season drew in 8.3 million viewers, and this time around, viewers can expect even more bone-chilling stories, unsettling decor choices, and haunted house hilarity. One home will earn the title of “scariest in America” and receive a major glow-up from Alison Victoria.
So whether you’re in it for the creepy creaks or the clashing curtains, one thing’s for sure—Retta’s got the keys, the commentary, and the comedic chops to take us on another unforgettable ride.
