Catalyst Studios is launching world sales for “Undercard” at this week’s European Film Market, with Anne Clements, Paul Kampf, and Mark Pennell producing. Catalyst Chairperson Holly Levow is serving as an executive producer, and the script is co-written by Anita M. Cal.

Wanda Sykes, renowned for her comedic roles in productions like “History Of The World: Part II,” “The Upshaws,” “Monster In Law,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is now embracing a new challenge with her first foray into dramatic acting. Sykes, whose latest comedy special “I’m An Entertainer” earned multiple award nominations, expressed excitement about tackling the boxing world and the unique role in “Undercard.”

Director Tamika Miller praised Sykes as a “tremendous talent” and commended her fearlessness, determination, and vulnerability, qualities that align with the role of a boxing trainer in a male-dominated sport. Miller expressed enthusiasm for having Sykes on board and acknowledged Catalyst Studios for supporting her vision.

Holly Levow, Catalyst Chairperson, highlighted “Undercard” as the sixth film in their slate of original content for the year, emphasizing their commitment to creating opportunities for women and non-binary filmmakers. The studio’s EFM lineup also features films like “Follow Me” starring Connie Nielsen, psychological thriller “Broken Bird” with Rebecca Calder, and the Spanish magical realism drama “Alix” starring Cristal Aparicio.
