Maurice Hall and Tony L. Patterson are ready to bring holiday chaos—and a little heart—to the big screen with their third feature, #WorstChristmasEver. And from the looks of the cast, it’s about to be anything but forgettable.
Leading the charge is B.J. Britt, who plays Billy Turner, a newly divorced workaholic with more emotional baggage than frequent flyer miles. Against his better judgment, Billy agrees to fly across the country for Christmas with his two kids—James (Tyler Lofton) and Haley (Mo Ashley)—plus his ex-wife Alicia (Shanti Lowry) and her very new fiancé Chris (played by Hall himself).
And if the setup wasn’t already enough to cause a Christmas meltdown, Billy’s ride-or-die besties Larry (Bill Bellamy) and Cynthia (Tamala Jones) are on deck, trying to keep him from spiraling into full-on Grinch mode. But holiday miracles come in all kinds of packages. For Billy, it’s Harmony Davis, a no-nonsense lawyer played by Taja V. Simpson who he quite literally stumbles upon during a failed attempt to drink away the holiday blues. What starts as chicken wings and sharp banter turns into something a bit more complicated—and possibly, a second chance at love.
The film also features Carl McDowell (Ballers) and René Ashton (The Man in the Guesthouse) rounding out the cast.
Written by Hall and Patterson—who also share producing duties under their respective banners, Mo-tivation Unlimited and PattersonHouse Productions—#WorstChristmasEver blends family dysfunction with romance, nostalgia, and a dash of “why did I come here again?” Simpson & McGowan Studios also co-produced, with Ricki Maslar heading up casting.
When asked about the heart of the film, Hall explained, “The goal was to create memories that emphasize the importance of family, love, and resilience—especially during the holidays. Think Almost Christmas meets Guess Who.”
Travel delays, surprise plus-ones, generational shade, and chicken wing meet-cutes? Yeah, #WorstChristmasEver might just end up being the holiday movie that gets people talking—and texting their cousins.
