Wunmi Mosaku Joins Cast of Prison Break Thriller ‘The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd’

Fresh off her standout role as Annie in Sinners, Wunmi Mosaku is diving into another intense project. The Emmy-winning actress has joined the cast of The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd, the upcoming prison break thriller from writer-director Tim Blake Nelson.

While her role is still under wraps, Mosaku rounds out a packed ensemble led by Amanda Seyfried and Scoot McNairy. The film follows a teacher in an abusive marriage who takes a job at a maximum-security prison—only to fall for a magnetic inmate. That relationship sparks a chain reaction of irreversible events that challenge not only the justice system, but the very limits of love, punishment, and humanity.

Also joining the cast are William Jackson Harper (The Good Place), Devyn Tyler (Snowfall), Missi Pyle (Captain Fantastic), Elizabeth Marvel (Presumed Innocent), and Grant Harvey (The Accountant 2). Nelson will also appear in the film.

Currently filming in Georgia, The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd is being produced by Julie Buck, Nelson, Ryan Bartecki, Miles David Romney, and Billy Hines. Executive producers include Christopher Hines, Gary Levinsohn, Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty, and Elan Gale. John Mock and Vanessa Stewart serve as co-producers.

The indie film is backed by Co Created Media, V42 Fund, Nelson’s Red Barn Films, QWGmire (also a co-financier), and Story Mill Entertainment. Domestic rights are being handled by WME, V42, and D Squared Films.

Mosaku’s latest move comes after her buzzy turn in Sinners, Ryan Coogler’s genre-bending vampire epic, where she played the Hoodoo priestess and partner to Michael B. Jordan’s dual roles. That film has grossed over $350 million globally and continues to rack up praise.

Beyond Sinners, Mosaku’s resume includes Deadpool & Wolverine, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Philomena, and standout performances in Lovecraft Country, His House, Black Mirror, Loki, and We Own This City.
