Hip Hop Meets Scripture in New Faith Film ‘Yesterday Today Forever’ Set for Prime Video and Apple TV Debut

Faith, music, and redemption take center stage in a new independent feature aiming to bridge scripture with contemporary culture. Yesterday Today Forever, the debut film from DEECO Enterprises, will premiere June 30 on Prime Video and Apple TV, introducing audiences to a modern reimagining of one of the Bible’s most well-known stories.

Rather than a traditional biblical retelling, the film reframes the arc of Peter’s denial of Jesus Christ through a present-day hip hop lens, weaving themes of trauma, betrayal, and spiritual restoration into a contemporary narrative shaped by music and therapy, faith and forgiveness.

At the center of the story is Pete (Curtis Nelson II), a man grappling with emotional wounds after walking away from his marriage and the loss of his closest friend. As he begins therapy with Dr. Johnson (Tina Witherby), buried truths begin to surface, pulling him into a deeper conflict tied to a conspiracy led by Jason Ricketts (John Bentley). What unfolds becomes both a personal reckoning and a spiritual awakening as Pete confronts what it means to carry a message bigger than himself.

The film features also stars Jasmine Burke, Lucius Rouser IV, VJ Roberts, and Will Oliver.

Writer and producer Domingo Guyton describes the project as a response to a cultural moment in need of hope and grounding.

“The power and impact of this movie, especially in this dark climate we are in as a nation, will hopefully shed some light and give hope to those who are lost,” Guyton said, adding that the film’s message centers on the enduring relevance of scripture: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

What sets Yesterday Today Forever apart is its intentional blend of hip hop storytelling and faith-based narrative, aiming to make biblical themes accessible to modern audiences without losing their spiritual foundation.

The film also features an expansive original 35-track soundtrack composed by Thomas Dawson Jr., Music Director for The Commodores, adding a layered musical backdrop to its reinterpretation of faith and redemption.

With its mix of music, ministry, and modern storytelling, Yesterday Today Forever positions itself as both a cinematic experiment and a faith-forward message about transformation in a contemporary world.

The film premieres June 30 on Prime Video and Apple TV.
