Yolanda Adams, Serayah and More to Star in Drama Series Kingdom Business

Yolanda Adams and Serayah have been tapped as leads in the music-driven drama series Kingdom Business for BET plus. In addition to their leading roles, both Adams and Serayah will be featured in musical performances.

The eight-episode series explores the gospel music industry through the lenses of family, faith, love and the redemptive power of music.

Michael Beach, Michael Jai White, and Chaundre A. Hall-Broomfield also star in the series.

Written by John Sakmar and Kerry Lenhart, it centers around the reigning “Queen of Gospel” Denita Jordan (Adams), who runs an in-house record label, Kingdom Records, and is the First Lady of megachurch First Kingdom Church. And she is determined to guard her family and its many secrets at all cost. Things seem to be unfolding in Denita’s favor until an unsuspecting young woman, Rbel (Serayah), on the rise with a checkered past enters the scene and threatens Denita’s crown.

Serayah’s Rbel is destined and anointed to challenge gospel music conventions. She is also a former exotic dancer who will see if her new-found voice can carry her to the top of the gospel kingdom.

Jai White’s Julius “Caesar” Jones is a powerful producer and Denita’s ex-producer/songwriter/lover, Caesar (White), who created her sound and launched her career. He is now her rival.

Michael is cast as Calvin Jordan’s Denita’s husband and Bishop of First Kingdom Church. Hall-Broomfield plays Calvin and Denita’s son Taj Jordan.

Tamar Braxton, La’Miya Good, Aspen Kennedy, Kiandra Richardson, Kajuana Shuford Marie, and Sam Malone will recur in the series.

Kingdom Business is executive produced by DeVon Franklin, Holly Carter, Kirk Franklin, and Michael Van Dyck.

Lenhart and Sakmar executive produce with Carter, founder of Relevé Entertainment; DeVon Franklin, CEO of Franklin Entertainment; Kirk Franklin, multi-Grammy-award-winner and Chairman & CEO of Fo Yo Soul Entertainment, who also serves as the show’s executive music producer; and Michael Van Dyck, founder of Inspired Entertainment. The series is produced by DAELight Media.

The series is currently in production in Atlanta and will air exclusively on BET+ next year.
