The 2025 Tony Award Nominations Are In — Buena Vista Social Club, Purpose, Among Lead Musical and Play Nominations

Broadway’s biggest honors are back — and the 2025 Tony Awards are shaping up to be one for the books.

Wendell Pierce and Sarah Paulson revealed this year’s nominees bright and early Thursday morning, kicking things off with a few key categories on CBS Mornings before unveiling the full slate on the Tony Awards’ YouTube livestream. The announcement sets the stage for what’s sure to be a star-studded ceremony on Sunday, June 8, as the Tonys return to Radio City Music Hall with Cynthia Erivo at the helm as host.

Erivo, a previous Tony winner for The Color Purple, is just one award away from achieving EGOT status and recently picked up her third Oscar nomination for her performance as Elphaba in Wicked. Now, she’ll guide audiences through a celebration of the best in Broadway—from new musicals and powerhouse revivals to emerging playwrights and acclaimed stage veterans.

Leading the musical categories this year are Death Becomes Her, Maybe Happy Ending, and Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical, while Oh, Mary!, Purpose, and John Proctor Is the Villain stand tall among the standout plays.
