“Ahsoka” Renewed: Lucasfilm Confirms Second Season in Development

Lucasfilm has confirmed the development of “Ahsoka” Season 2 with creator Dave Filoni. The announcement coincided with the reveal of the new live-action “Star Wars” film, “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” directed by Jon Favreau, set to go into production in 2024.

The first season of “Ahsoka” concluded on October 3, 2023, featuring Rosario Dawson in the lead role as the beloved Jedi Ahsoka Tano. The series follows Ahsoka’s quest to safeguard the galaxy from the emerging threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn, set in the aftermath of the Galactic Empire’s fall. Notably, the show marked the live-action debut of characters like Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Thrawn, and Ezra Bridger, originally from the animated “Star Wars Rebels” TV series.

Dave Filoni, the creator of “Ahsoka” and a key contributor to other Star Wars projects like “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” is actively involved in shaping the narrative of the second season. The series is produced by Filoni, Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck.

While details about “Ahsoka” Season 2 are yet to be revealed, the announcement has generated excitement among fans of the franchise. The news also comes shortly after Rosario Dawson’s statement on the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, where she mentioned not having conversations with Lucasfilm about another season.

In addition to “Ahsoka” Season 2, Lucasfilm has a robust lineup of upcoming “Star Wars” projects on Disney+. Those titles include the third and final season of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” the live-action series “Skeleton Crew.” And “The Acolyte” which is set during the High Republic era.

Furthermore, Lucasfilm is making significant strides in returning to the big screen with various Star Wars films in development, including projects from Filoni, James Mangold, Taika Waititi, and Shawn Levy. Notable actors like Donald Glover and Daisy Ridley are also attached to exciting film ventures centered around Lando Calrissian and Rey, respectively.

The “Star Wars” universe continues to expand and “Ahsoka” Season 2 is poised to be a significant addition to this ever-growing galaxy far, far away.
