What’s New in Season Two?
Boarders follows five Black inner-city teens—Jaheim, Leah, Toby, Omar, and Femi—who receive scholarships to the elite St. Gilbert’s boarding school as part of a PR stunt to improve the school’s reputation. In season two, the stakes are higher as acting headmistress Carol Watlington-Geese (Niky Wardley) takes over, determined to rid St. Gilbert’s of its scholarship students.
Returning cast members Josh Tedeku (Jaheim), Jodie Campbell (Leah), Sekou Diaby (Toby), Myles Kamwendo (Omar), and Aruna Jalloh (Femi) are back to reprise their roles, along with Harry Gilby as Jaheim’s nemesis Rupert and other familiar faces from St. Gilbert’s.
This season introduces several exciting new characters, including BAFTA-winner Wunmi Mosaku (Loki, Black Mirror) as Jaheim’s mother, Grace, and Cara Theobold (Downton Abbey) as Jude, St. Gilbert’s new writer-in-residence. Michael Salami (Supacell) joins as Femi’s uncle Teju, while newcomer Kendra Brown makes her debut as Devon’ye, an American exchange student.
Creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming season:
“Bringing the new season of Boarders to life has been an incredible experience, especially with the exciting addition of new faces. Watching the actors effortlessly return to their roles has been an absolute joy.”
Executive producer Madeleine Sinclair added, “We’re so thrilled with our cast for season two, both the wonderful returning characters and the exciting new faces. Daniel’s scripts are once again as funny as they are thought-provoking, and our talented cast brings them to life perfectly.”
Boarders season two will feature six 45-minute episodes, with writing credits shared by Taylor, Yemi Oyefuwa, Jeffrey Aidoo, and Racheal Ofori, and direction by Joelle Mae David and Sarmad Masud. The series is produced by Studio Lambert in co-production with Tubi and ZDFneo for the BBC.
Season one, which holds a 100% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is available now on BBC iPlayer in the UK and Tubi in the U.S.
