The gates are staying open.
CBS has officially renewed Beyond the Gates, its groundbreaking daytime drama, for a second season. Since its February debut, the series has been shaking up CBS Daytime with a 48% jump in broadcast viewership during its time slot and a 67% increase in multiplatform viewing compared to last year. It’s also pulling ahead of ABC’s General Hospital by 7% among women 25-54 on broadcast.
Set in a wealthy, gated Maryland suburb just outside Washington, D.C., Beyond the Gates follows the lives of the Duprees, a powerful, multigenerational Black family living in one of the country’s most affluent African American counties. But behind the prestige and perfectly pruned hedges lie scandal, ambition, betrayal, and secrets waiting to erupt. Whether they live inside the gates or are looking in from the outside, everyone is trying to make it—and some, more gracefully than others.
The series is anchored by Clifton Davis as Vernon Dupree and Tamara Tunie as Anita Dupree. Karla Mosley stars as Dani Dupree, with Daphnée Duplaix as Nicole Richardson, Richard Brooks as Everett Dupree, and Victoria Rowell as Victoria Snow. Tobias Truvillion plays Miles Dupree, and Tatyana Ali takes on the role of Ava Dupree.
Rounding out the family and community are Michael Tolbert as Kendall Dupree, Danielle LaRoach as Journey Richardson, Jocko Sims as Jayson Young, and Terrell Carter as Julian Dupree. Leon appears as Franklin Gates, while Keith D. Robinson joins as Dr. Joseph Shaw.
Also in the ensemble are Victoria Platt as Dr. Monica King, Kara Duncan as Piper Dupree, Alexis Mitchell as Ellie King, Al-Jaleel Knox as Kellan Richardson, Brittney Q. Hill as Kenya Evans, and Hisham Tawfiq as Norman.
Created by Michele Val Jean and executive produced by Sheila Ducksworth, Beyond the Gates is the first new daytime soap opera to launch in over two decades—and the first to center a Black family at its core. The series is produced by CBS Studios and the NAACP, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. Additional executive producers include Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thompson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner, and Anna Saalfeld.
Beyond the Gates airs weekdays from 2:00–3:00 PM ET (1:00–2:00 PM PT) on CBS and is also available for streaming on Paramount+ and CBS.com.
With its rich storytelling, sprawling cast, and unapologetic Black excellence, Beyond the Gates is proving that daytime TV still has room for something new—and necessary.
