Inspired by a screenplay from Spanish author and artist Elisa Victoria, Eye For An Eye tells the story of Anna (Peak), a teen reeling from the sudden loss of her parents. Her grief takes her from the chaos of New York City to a quiet, unfamiliar Florida town, where she moves in with a grandmother (played by Emmy winner S. Epatha Merkerson) she’s never met. But what should have been a slow road to healing quickly spirals into something darker.

Pulled into the orbit of a troubled group of teens led by characters played by Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country) and newcomer Laken Giles, Anna becomes a witness to an act of violence that invites a terrifying presence into her life. That presence? Mr. Sandman — a vengeful spirit with a haunting appetite: he preys on bullies in their dreams before feasting on their eyes once they wake.

The cast also includes Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story) and S. Epatha Merkerson (Chicago Med), rounding out an ensemble that brings gravitas to the supernatural horror tale.

The film hails from Ley Line Entertainment, the team behind Everything Everywhere All At Once, with Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, Rachael Fung, and Nate Kamiya producing. Executive producers include David Darby, Lauren Shelton, Elisa Victoria, Susan Kirr, and Bill Tagliaferri.

The distribution deal was brokered by Tony Piantedosi and Rachel White for Vertical, with WME Independent repping the filmmakers.

Vertical continues building a diverse slate of bold titles, including the Tribeca-bound Sacramento (starring Michael Angarano, Kristen Stewart, and Michael Cera), the survival thriller Fight or Flight (with Josh Hartnett and Katee Sackhoff), and the SXSW standout I Don’t Understand You featuring Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells.
