After years of whispers and rewrites, Final Destination: Bloodlines is finally real—and the full trailer just dropped to prove it. The sixth film in the franchise officially hits theaters May 16, 2025, and yes, it’s coming in hot with an IMAX release to celebrate 25 years of dodging death in the most ridiculous (and anxiety-inducing) ways possible.
But what really has longtime fans clutching their chests? Tony Todd is back as the ever-mysterious William Bludworth—and it’s a beautiful but bittersweet return, as this marks one of the final roles the late horror icon filmed before his passing in November 2024.

Back to Where It All Began (Literally)
Bloodlines isn’t your typical sequel. It’s not quite a prequel either—but it does go back. Way back. The movie teases a deeper dive into the chain reaction of death that started this whole saga, decades before Alex Browning ever had his vision about that doomed flight to Paris. Now, we get a glimpse into how Death’s design began to unfold generations ago.
Here’s the official logline:
“Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.”
Meet the (Un)lucky Cast
Leading the cast is Kaitlyn Santa Juana as Stefanie, with a supporting lineup that includes Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Rya Kihlstedt, Max Lloyd-Jones, Tinpo Lee, and Brec Bassinger.
And of course, Tony Todd returns as Bludworth, the death-whispering mortician who’s popped up in nearly every Final Destination installment, always knowing just a little too much. Rumor has it Bloodlines will finally peel back the layers of his eerie backstory—maybe even answering the long-running fan theory that he is Death itself.
A Fitting Final Destination for Tony Todd
Todd has always loomed large in the horror space—from his legendary role in Candyman to his unforgettable voice and presence across Final Destination films. To see him back in this world one last time feels poetic, especially if Bloodlines finally gives Bludworth the spotlight he deserves.
Who’s Behind the Madness?
The film is directed by Freaks duo Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky, with a script from Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick (Scream, Ready or Not) based on a story from Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts—who also serves as producer alongside franchise veterans Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Dianne McGunigle.
It’s a fresh creative team, but they clearly know the assignment: high-stakes setups, Rube Goldberg-level deaths, and the lurking question of whether anyone can ever truly escape fate.
If you’re a longtime fan of the franchise or just love a good, creatively gory thrill ride, Final Destination: Bloodlines looks like it’s ready to bring the chaos—and maybe a few answers we’ve waited 25 years for.
