Gabrielle Maiden (‘Stranger Things’), has been cast in the ’80s revenge thriller ‘Stone Cold Fox’. Maiden will play a supporting role alongside leads Kiernan Shipka, Kiefer Sutherland, and Krysten Ritter.
‘Stone Cold Fox’, directed by Sophie Tabet in her directorial debut, follows the defiant Fox (Shipka) as she escapes from an abusive commune in search of her family. Her journey takes a dark turn when the commune’s queenpin, played by Ritter, kidnaps her younger sister and sends a crooked cop (Sutherland) to hunt her down. Fox must infiltrate the very place she escaped to save her sister.
“’Stone Cold Fox’ is a love letter to the American action films of the ’80s, but one that gives women, immigrants, and queer characters seats at the table,” Tabet said. “I’m beyond excited to make this ass-kicking, high-octane film about the complexities of non-belonging and making your own family as a means of survival.”

The cast is rounded out by Lorenza Izzo, Jamie Chung, Karen Fukuhara, and Spenser Granese. Maiden will portray Crystal, the heart of the commune run by Ritter’s Goldie. Crystal, who was taken in by Goldie after a personal tragedy, remains willfully ignorant of Goldie’s criminal activities to maintain peace—until it threatens those she loves.
Granese takes on the role of Ricky, Goldie’s devious right-hand man known for his sinister laugh and loyalty to Goldie’s schemes, including the kidnapping that propels the film’s plot. Prada stars as Frankie, an ex-combat medic who joins forces with Fox to rescue her sister. Frankie, a fierce former army officer dealing with mental health challenges from combat, embodies the film’s theme of creating one’s own family.
The script was co-written by Tabet and Julia Roth. The production team includes Stephen Braun of Bee-Hive, Eric B. Fleischman and Chris Abernathy of The Wonder Company, Jonathan Craven, and executive producer Joe Roth. Verve Ventures and the UTA Independent Film Group are handling worldwide rights.
Maiden, who gained fame as the first Black female professional snowboarder before transitioning to acting, is also known for her roles in ‘I Love Dick’ and ‘SMILF’. She has appeared in films like ‘Under the Silver Lake’ and the anthology ‘Scare Package’. Maiden will next be seen in the Russo brothers’ Netflix film ‘The Electric State’, starring Chris Pratt, Millie Bobby Brown, and Stanley Tucci.
