‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Canceled, Marking NBC’s Sixth Axed Series of 2025

NBC has officially canceled Grosse Pointe Garden Society after just one season, marking the sixth series the network has axed from its 2024–2025 slate.

Created by Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs (Good Girls), the dark dramedy followed four suburban garden club members—played by AnnaSophia Robb, Melissa Fumero, Aja Naomi King, and Ben Rappaport—whose lives unraveled after becoming entangled in scandal and a shared secret: a murder no one wants to talk about. The cast also included Jocko Sims, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis, and Felix Wolfe.

Produced by Universal Television, the series debuted in February on NBC’s post-football Sunday lineup, paired with Suits LA, another now-canceled freshman drama. Grosse Pointe Garden Society struggled to find an audience from the start, leading to its move to Friday nights in April. While the shift brought a modest bump in viewership, the show still averaged fewer than 2 million viewers in Nielsen’s seven-day ratings—ranking as NBC’s lowest-rated scripted series this season.

Sources say NBCUniversal considered relocating the series to Peacock, but no streaming deal materialized. With no path forward, the network opted not to renew the show following its season finale five weeks ago.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society joins Suits LA, The Irrational, Found, Lopez vs. Lopez, and Night Court as part of NBC’s recent wave of cancellations. As the network looks ahead, two comedy pilots are currently in development: Stumble, a cheerleading workplace comedy, and an untitled project set at a Native American community center in Oakland.

With the cancellation, only one rookie scripted series from the 2024–2025 season remains undecided: ABC’s Doctor Odyssey, which is still in discussions for a potential second season with co-creator Ryan Murphy.

NBC declined to comment.
