Keith Powers and Director Numa Perrier Reunite for Family Drama ‘Trip’

Following their collaboration on the adaptation of Tia Williams’ ‘The Perfect Find’, director Numa Perrier and actor Keith Powers are teaming up once again for the family drama ‘Trip’. This new project, penned by screenwriter David E. Baugnon, promises a poignant exploration of familial bonds and secrets.

‘Trip’ centers on Ben, played by Powers, a pre-med student who embarks on an unconventional journey to find experimental healing methods for his terminally ill mother. As Ben’s quest turns into an unpredictable adventure, long-hidden family truths and secrets come to light, challenging the family in unforeseen ways.

The indie feature will be produced by Adonis Tountas of Everlast Pictures, alongside Joshua Parham and Kristopher MacNeil of Uprising Global. Perrier and Powers are also on board as producers. The executive producing team includes Nikko Tountas, James Leon, Mark Roling, Nic Bilbao, and Craig Armstrong. Casting is currently underway with Thomas Sullivan, and production is scheduled to begin in New Orleans during the summer and fall seasons.

Powers previously worked with Perrier on last summer’s rom-com ‘The Perfect Find,’ starring opposite Gabrielle Union. His credits also include ‘The New Edition Story’, ‘Door Mouse’, and ‘Tomorrow War.’ Up next he will star in MGM’s series ‘Emperor of Ocean Park’ alongside Forest Whitaker which is set to premiere on July 14.  As well as ‘Uglies’ which will premiere on Netflix.

Numa Perrier made her debut with ‘Jezebel’, which premiered at SXSW in 2019 and won Best Director and Best Feature at the American Black Film Festival. She also won the HCA Award for Best Comedy Series Director for her work on ‘Unprisoned’, starring Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo. Perrier is a versatile talent, starring in the thriller ‘Fuzzyhead’ on Apple TV and Chelsea Peretti’s ‘First Time Female Director’ on Roku.
