Not only is Laci Mosley adapting her popular podcast ‘Scam Goddess’ into a TV series, but she is also set to star as a series regular in Fox’s upcoming comedy, “Going Dutch.”
Mosley will star alongside Taylor Misiak, Danny Pudi, Hal Cumpston and the previously announced Denis Leary.
“Going Dutch” is a single-camera comedy that follows a loudmouth U.S. Army Colonel, portrayed by Denis Leary, who finds himself reassigned to a low-priority army base in the Netherlands after an explosive, unfiltered rant. Having served with distinction in various warzones over the last thirty years, the Colonel’s new command is a stark contrast to his previous assignments. This base, lacking weapons and tactical importance, boasts unconventional amenities such as a Michelin-star commissary, a top-notch bowling alley, and the U.S. Army’s only fromagerie. Amidst a diverse group of quirky underdogs, the Colonel is determined to restore military discipline, aided by the base’s interim leader and his estranged daughter.
Mosley will portray Sergeant Dana Conway, the crafty and resourceful Supply Sergeant who has made the most out of her European posting, transforming her service into what she sees as a pansexual paradise brimming with food, art, and wine. Unlike most soldiers who view the base as a punishment, Dana considers it home. Her character’s entrepreneurial spirit and no-nonsense attitude promise to add depth and humor to the series.
Taylor Misiak will take on the role of Captain Maggie Quinn, the base’s acting commanding officer and the estranged daughter of the Colonel. A competent leader in her own right, Maggie’s diplomatic nature is put to the test whenever her father is around, triggering a contentious father-daughter dynamic. With ambitions of rising through the ranks, Maggie dreams of becoming the first female President and navigating a successful romantic relationship—ambitions that are complicated by her father’s presence.
Danny Pudi plays XO Major Abraham Shah, the Colonel’s dependable Executive Officer. Shah’s commitment to the Colonel spans two decades, but as he begins to forge connections outside of his duties—particularly with Maggie—he starts to question his own identity beyond his military role.
Hal Cumpston portrays Corporal Elias Papadakis, the IT genius of the base who sees traditional military demands as beneath his skill set. Although his physical prowess may be lacking, his technical abilities make him indispensable, much to the chagrin of the Colonel who views Papadakis as emblematic of the modern military’s shortcomings.
Dempsey Bryk will heavily recur as Private Anthony “BA” Chapman, a physically strong but intellectually limited soldier whose nickname, “Below Average,” humorously sums up his mental acuity scores. A golden retriever in human form, BA is eager to prove himself, though his efforts often fall short under pressure.
The series is helmed by showrunner Joel Church-Cooper, known for his work on “Brockmire.” Executive producers include Church-Cooper, Denis Leary, and Jack Leary. “Going Dutch” is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios, with Fox Entertainment Global handling distribution. The show marks Fox Entertainment Studios’ second fully-owned live-action comedy, following “Animal Control.”
