NBC Gives Official Series Order to ‘The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins’ — Tracy Morgan Now Has Two Series in the Works [FIRST LOOK]

NBC has officially handed out a series order to The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, a new single-camera comedy led by Tracy Morgan. This marks a major move for Morgan, who now has two series on the way—Reggie Dinkins at NBC and the upcoming The Neighborhood spinoff Crutch at CBS, where he takes on the lead role.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins follows a disgraced former football player (played by Morgan) who’s on a personal mission to rebuild his reputation and reclaim his spot in the world. The series also stars Erika Alexander, Daniel Radcliffe, Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall.

The series also reunites Morgan with the creative team behind 30 Rock. Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, and Sam Means—comedy heavyweights in their own right—are executive producing, with Carlock and Means also serving as writers. Rhys Thomas (an SNL alum) directed the pilot and executive produces as well. Eric Gurian (Little Stranger) and David Miner (3 Arts) round out the producing team. The show is produced by Universal Television, where Fey has an overall deal.

NBC has ordered 10 episodes of the series, though it’s not part of the network’s fall schedule rollout just yet. That means a midseason premiere is likely, with network executives hinting at a potential November debut. Reggie Dinkins is currently one of just three comedy pilots in consideration for NBC’s Monday or Friday night lineup later this season.

This development comes amid a significant reshuffling at NBC. The network recently canceled several series, including Night Court, Lopez vs. Lopez, Found, The Irrational, and Suits: LA, to accommodate a new 11-year broadcasting deal with the NBA and WNBA . These cancellations have sparked conversations about the evolving landscape of network television and the challenges of balancing legacy programming with new content.

Importantly, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins will not interfere with Morgan’s work on Crutch, which has him in first position at CBS and is expected to bow on Paramount+. For Morgan, who has long been a singular comedic force, this dual-series moment signals a welcome resurgence—and some well-earned spotlight.

This also happens to be the first new scripted series order at NBC under its recently restructured entertainment division, now helmed by Pearlena Igbokwe. And with the network scaling back scripted offerings in favor of expanded sports coverage—including 180 hours of NBA programming—Reggie Dinkins stood out as one of the few fresh projects to make the cut
