Netflix has unveiled a sneak peek of its upcoming film, ‘Back in Action,’ featuring the dynamic duo Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz. The short clip released provides a glimpse into the lives of former CIA agents turned married couple, Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx), who are pulled back into the world of espionage after their cover is blown.
In the teaser, the characters are shown engaging in a thrilling fight outside a gas station, all while their children begin to discover the hidden secrets of their parents’ past. The official logline from Netflix’s Tudum states, “Years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.”
This marks Cameron Diaz’s return to the big screen after her last film, ‘Annie,’ in 2014, where she also starred alongside Jamie Foxx. ‘Back in Action’ began filming in December 2022, but encountered a temporary halt in production due to a medical complication experienced by Jamie Foxx in April 2023.
Despite the setback, Foxx, 56, was spotted back on set with Diaz, 51, on January 21, 2024, exhibiting a focused and professional demeanor. Diaz addressed rumors surrounding the film’s production in a December episode of Molly Sims’ Lipstick on the Rim podcast, expressing her frustration with unfounded claims about Foxx being difficult on set.
According to Diaz, Foxx is a cheerleader for the crew, and she emphasized the fun and professionalism he brings to the set. The film also features a star-studded cast, including Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts, and Rylan Jackson, with no official release date announced yet.
‘Back in Action’ is part of Netflix’s 2024 lineup, as revealed in a sizzle reel showcasing other anticipated releases such as ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,’ ‘Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Scargiver,’ and Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Atlas.’ Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling espionage flick hitting Netflix screens later this year.
