Peacock has unveiled the teaser for The Five-Star Weekend, its upcoming eight-episode drama led by and executive produced by Jennifer Garner, with Regina Hall among the standout ensemble cast. The series will now premiere Thursday, July 9, on Peacock, with all episodes dropping at once.
Based on Elin Hilderbrand’s 2023 bestselling novel, The Five-Star Weekend centers on Hollis Shaw (Jennifer Garner), a celebrated cook, bestselling author, and lifestyle tastemaker whose carefully curated life begins to unravel after a devastating personal loss.
As grief exposes the fractures beneath her “picture-perfect” existence—including a strained marriage, a complicated relationship with her daughter, and a growing dependence on public validation—Hollis decides to take control of her healing in an unconventional way.
She invites four women from different chapters of her life to her Nantucket home for a “five-star weekend,” along with one unexpected fifth guest. Set against a luxe coastal backdrop, the gathering brings together childhood memories, old friendships, and unresolved tensions—forcing each woman to confront secrets, identity shifts, and the versions of themselves they’ve outgrown.
Chloë Sevigny plays Tatum McKenzie, Hollis’ childhood friend and emotional anchor to her earliest self. Regina Hall stars as Dru-Ann Jones, a bold, unfiltered college-era friend who challenges every room she enters. D’Arcy Carden portrays Brooke Kirtley, a friend from Hollis’ adult life navigating her own quiet unraveling. Gemma Chan joins as Gigi Ling, a mysterious outsider and devoted follower of Hollis’ blog who arrives as the surprise “fifth star.”
The series also stars Timothy Olyphant, Harlow Jane, and an extensive supporting cast including Judy Greer, Rob Huebel, David Denman, Josh Hamilton, West Duchovny, and Roberta Colindrez.
The series comes from creator and showrunner Bekah Brunstetter, with Beth Schacter also serving as writer and executive producer. Minkie Spiro directs and executive produces. Executive producers include Sue Naegle and Ali Krug for Dinner Party Productions, alongside Elin Hilderbrand, Merri Howard, and Jennifer Garner herself.
Produced by Universal Content Productions (UCP), a division of Universal Studio Group, the series expands Hilderbrand’s growing television footprint following The Perfect Couple.
At its core, The Five-Star Weekend blends grief, friendship, reinvention, and emotional reckoning. What begins as a luxurious getaway quickly turns into a pressure cooker of truth-telling and transformation—where curated lives collide with buried realities.
With its star-studded cast and emotionally layered premise, the series is shaping up to be one of Peacock’s most talked-about summer dramas.
