Amazon Prime Video has recently announced the cancellation of three scripted series: “The Horror of Dolores Roach,” “Harlan Coben’s Shelter,” and “With Love.” The decision comes as part of a trend in cancellations across various platforms.

“The Horror of Dolores Roach,” originally a one-woman play by Aaron Mark, was adapted into a podcast and series. It depicted the story of Dolores, played by Justina Machado, returning to a gentrified Washington Heights and facing challenges that lead her to extreme measures for survival. The series was co-showrun by Aaron Mark and Dara Resnik.

“Shelter,” based on Harlan Coben’s novel, followed Mickey Bolitar’s investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a student in suburban New Jersey. Jaden Michael, Constance Zimmer, and Adrian Greensmith starred in this one-season drama.

“With Love,” created by Gloria Calderón Kellett, explored the lives of siblings Lily and Jorge Diaz as they navigated significant life changes. The romantic dramedy was canceled after its second season.

These cancellations add to the growing list of discontinued shows, indicating a broader trend in the industry. Among the recent cancellations are “The Peripheral” and “A League of Their Own.” The reasons behind these decisions include factors such as writers and actors strikes and the ongoing efforts to reduce costs in the entertainment industry.

The discontinuation of diverse series like “The Horror of Dolores Roach” and “With Love” raises concerns about the impact on diverse programming. The industry faces challenges as it grapples with the aftermath of strikes and the need to make budgetary adjustments.
