“Queen Rising,” a gripping new mystery drama starring April Hale, is set to make its U.S. debut this June. Directed by Princeton James, the film has already captivated audiences at the Charlotte Black Film Festival and the Atlanta Black Film Festival. Now, it is poised to reach a broader audience with its release on June 18, 2024.
The film centers on Madison, portrayed by Hale (known for her roles in “General Hospital” and “Nightmare School Moms”), a young school teacher on the verge of losing everything. Struggling to make ends meet, Madison is offered an extraordinary opportunity: to transform her dark and traumatic past into a thriller novel. Hesitant but desperate, she agrees, diving back into the harrowing memories of the “College Town Slayings,” a series of brutal events that terrorized her community. As Madison revisits these dark times, she uncovers disturbing connections and realizes that her past may not be as buried as she had hoped. Facing a resurgence of danger, Madison must confront her demons to secure her future, navigating a perilous path where the line between fiction and reality blurs.
