Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan's Project Gets Spring 2025 Release Date

We may not know what Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan are working on, but we do know when it will premiere.

The project, for which Warner Bros. secured the rights last month, is scheduled to hit theaters on March 7, 2025, with cameras rolling on the project this April. Warner Bros. had always reserved this date for an event movie, with the only other title opening on this weekend next year being an untitled Disney movie.

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s untitled movie is a mysterious-genre film. The film, based on an original script by Coogler, has been described as an “original genre film,” with plot details tightly under wraps.

While specific details about the plot remain elusive, sources suggest the film is a period thriller, possibly set in the Jim Crow-era South and involving the undead. Rumors of anime influences, inspired by Jordan’s known passion for the genre, also add an extra layer of anticipation.

This project marks the fifth collaboration between Coogler and Jordan, their creative partnership beginning with the critically acclaimed “Fruitvale Station” in 2013 and extending to the “Creed” and “Black Panther” franchises. The dynamic duo’s success has resonated at the box office, with their collective efforts amassing over $2.4 billion globally.

The project also marks the second of Coogler and Jordan’s that Warner Bros Film Group co-chairs and CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy have championed, following their greenlight of “Creed III” during their time at MGM.

The untitled film, produced by Coogler’s Proximity Media alongside Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian, will see Coogler return to the director’s chair for the first time since 2022’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The executive producers are two-time Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Goransson, Rebecca Cho, and Will Greenfield.

Warner Bros. Film Group co-chairs and CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, who previously greenlit “Creed III,” expressed enthusiasm for their continued collaboration with Coogler and Jordan. The studio’s recent successes and ongoing projects, including partnerships with Tom Cruise and director Jon Chu, solidify its commitment to diverse and engaging content.
