A newcomer is about to make her mark. Sofia Rose has been cast in her first major role, leading the animated feature The Neverending Pillow Fort alongside Elizabeth Cullen (Elvis). Joining them are Marsai Martin (Little), David Tennant (Doctor Who), Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), and Teresa Palmer (A Discovery of Witches).
Rose plays Abby and Cullen plays Maggie — best friends whose bond, built on years of imaginative pillow fort adventures, gets tested when Abby comes back from camp ready to embrace new friendships and the real world. When their fort turns out to have a magical ability to transport them across the globe, the two embark on an adventure that pulls them back together. But the deeper question running through the film is one a lot of kids eventually have to face: what does it actually mean to grow up?
The film is directed by BAFTA nominee Allison Brownmoore (The Amazing Adventures of Awesome) and adapted for the screen by Dominic Morris, Gurinder Chadha, and Paul Mayeda Berges, based on the children’s novel by Will Taylor. Crayola Studios serves as both producer and financier, alongside Alceon Entertainment Partners, Eclectik Vision, MIMO Studios, and Like A Photon Creative. Production is currently underway in Australia, with Screen Queensland’s Post Digital and Visual rebate incentive supporting the production.
Sola Media is launching international sales at Cannes — the same team that previously partnered with Like A Photon Creative and MIMO Studios on The Pout-Pout Fish, which hit U.S. theaters in March.
