Netflix is heading back to Hawkins once again.
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 has officially been renewed for Season 2, marking a swift pickup for the animated series just days after its April 23 premiere. The show debuted at No. 7 on Netflix’s weekly English-language TV chart, pulling in 2.8 million views in its opening weekend.
Set during the winter of 1985, the series revisits Hawkins as Eleven and the crew attempt to return to normal life—think D&D sessions, snowball fights, and quiet days—only for a new supernatural threat to emerge beneath the surface. The spinoff expands the universe of Stranger Things, with showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer at the helm.
The voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt (Eleven), Elisha “EJ” Williams (Lucas), Jolie Hoang-Rappaport (Max), Luca Diaz (Mike), Braxton Quinney (Dustin), and Benjamin Plessala (Will), alongside Odessa A’zion, Brett Gipson, Jeremy Jordan, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
While the show’s U.S. performance has been more modest—peaking at No. 6—it has found stronger traction internationally, particularly across Eastern Europe and parts of Asia. Still, the early renewal reflects Netflix’s continued strategy of investing in animation upfront to avoid long gaps between seasons.
Season 2 is expected to pick up directly from the chilling finale, which teased a new Upside Down mutation: a mysterious blue flower with a Demogorgon-like maw. According to Robles, this unsettling reveal will anchor the next chapter of the story, as the Hawkins crew faces an even deeper mystery tied to the town—and beyond.
With production already underway, Season 2 is currently eyeing a late 2026 release.
