In a surprising turn of events, another firefighter has bid farewell to the popular NBC drama "Chicago Fire." Rome Flynn, who portrayed Derrick Gibson in the latest season, made his final appearance during the March 27th episode, marking a short-lived stint on the series. Flynn took to Instagram to share the news, posting, "Curtain call Chicago Fire." His character, Gibson, faced a tumultuous journey on screen, grappling with addiction and personal demons. In his farewell episode, Gibson's struggles with prescription drug withdrawal came to a head, leading him to make the difficult decision to seek treatment and leave Firehouse 51. His departure from the show is unexpected, especially since he was just starting to assimilate himself into Firehouse 51. While Variety confirms Flynn's departure from the show for now, it remains unclear whether his character could make a return in the future. Showrunner Andrea Newman initially expressed excitement about Flynn joining the cast, praising his "phenomenal" acting abilities and the dynamic energy he brought to the series. Flynn's exit comes on the heels of other significant departures from the show, including Kara Killmer, who portrayed Sylvie Brett, and Alberto Rosende, who portrayed Gallo. Killmer bid farewell in the February 28th episode, while Rosende's character made a swift exit after the season premiere. Despite these exits, "Chicago Fire" continues to evolve with new additions to the cast. Jocelyn Hudon recently joined the series in a recurring role.
