Colman Domingo is back on Netflix, this time as Muncie Daniels, a political consultant-turned-TV pundit on the run after being framed for murder. Netflix just dropped the first teaser for The Madness, a new limited series premiering November 28. Over eight high-stakes episodes, we’ll follow Daniels as he grapples with a setup, a bullseye on his back, and a fight for truth that will have viewers locked in from start to finish.
“I’m telling you, it was a setup,” Domingo says in a tense voiceover. “Now, I’m being questioned. I got a bullseye on my back. Do you see what they’re doing to me?” As the camera catches his character caught in a surveillance frame, Domingo’s Muncie adds ominously, “I feel like I can’t leave. They’re gonna pin all this on you.” It’s a glimpse into the paranoia, danger, and stakes of the series that promises to be one of Netflix’s most gripping shows this season.
The Madness is created by Stephen Belber, known for What We Do Next and The Laramie Project. In this thriller, Muncie Daniels sets off on a work sabbatical to the Poconos, hoping to pen the great American novel. Instead, he becomes the lone witness to the murder of a well-known white supremacist—and quickly becomes the prime suspect.
Forced to go on the run, Daniels’ journey pushes him into a global conspiracy that challenges his principles and his life. Along the way, he reconnects with family, finds unlikely allies, and battles a disinformation-fueled landscape in a fight to clear his name.
Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham, John Ortiz, Tamsin Topolski, and Thaddeus J. Mixson. Additionally, guest stars like Deon Cole, Hamish Allan-Headley, Ennis Esmer, Allison Wright, Bradley Whitford, and Stephen McKinley Henderson round out the cast.
Clément Virgo, known for his work on Brother, brings his directorial vision to the series, working alongside executive producers Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kaitlin Dahill. Virgo, Belber, and Boyd have crafted a storyline that promises fast-paced thrills layered with social commentary, tapping into anxieties around truth and public manipulation.
