Angel McCoughtry is stepping deeper into filmmaking, officially setting the cast for her feature directorial debut Bolted, a psychological thriller set to begin production in Los Angeles this June.
The cast is led by Sharon Carpenter with Destin Tucker and Umar Sadiq.
The story follows a group of strangers confined in a mysterious, high-tech space in Los Angeles, where memory loss, psychological manipulation, and buried connections begin to surface—hinting at a sinister force that may know them better than they know themselves.
The film stars UK journalist and TV presenter Sharon Carpenter in the lead role as Blue, a disciplined police officer known as “Lady Blue,” whose reality begins to unravel after she finds herself trapped in a sealed, high-tech facility with no memory of how she arrived.
Joining her is Destin Tucker, son of Chris Tucker in his feature film debut, playing Josh—a haunting, supernatural manifestation tied to a teenage boy killed in a police shooting. Positioned as both a guide and a reckoning, Josh becomes a psychological force Blue cannot escape as her guilt and perception of reality begin to fracture.
The cast also includes retired boxer-turned-actor Umar Sadiq as Blue’s husband, a grounding presence representing the life she risks losing, and Marley Goldberg as Billy, a streetwise teenager who becomes trapped inside the facility and emerges as an unlikely ally as paranoia escalates.
The feature marks a major milestone for McCoughtry, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and one of the most decorated players in WNBA history, ranked among the league’s Top 25 Players of All Time. Through her production company McCoughtry Entertainment, she continues expanding her footprint in Hollywood.
Bolted also follows her short film debut Bygones, which premiered on Prime Video earlier this year and centered on a former coach helping a struggling basketball player regain her confidence.
