The custody battle drama “Our Son,” starring Billy Porter, Luke Evans, and newcomer Christopher Woodley is set to hit select theaters on December 8th. Distributed by Vertical and directed by Bill Oliver, the indie film explores the next step in LGBTQIA+ equality, focusing on the right to divorce.

The cast includes Andrew Rannells, Robin Weigert, Kate Burton, and Phylicia Rashad.

The story revolves around Gabriel (Porter) and Nicky (Evans), a couple married for 13 years, navigating the challenges of divorce. Struggling with personal and creative issues while caring for their son Owen, the couple faces stress and anxiety, leading to an irreparable situation. As they announce the news to friends and family, a custody battle ensues, forcing them on a journey of self-discovery to support their son.

Porter and Evans also contributed to the film’s soundtrack with the original song “Always Be My Man.” Watch the trailer below.

Produced by Tigresa in association with TPC, Federal Films, and Slated, “Our Son” received financing from TPC. The film’s producers include Fernando Loureiro, Eric Binns, Guilherme Coelho, Jennifer 8. Lee, and Christopher Lin. Executive producers feature a list of prominent names, including Porter, Oliver, Nickowitz, and many others.

Vertical, represented by Jarowey and SVP of Acquisitions Tony Piantedosi, negotiated the deal with CAA Media Finance on behalf of the production. The collaboration between the creators, the cast, and the distribution team underscores the film’s significance and its potential impact on audiences.
