Cameras are officially rolling on Jordan’s Love, a new romantic drama that aims to capture the emotional depth and timeless feel of the Black love stories that defined the 1990s and early 2000s.
Written by and starring Darnell Lindsey Jr., the film is directed by Paige B. Alston and is currently in production in Detroit.
Joining Lindsey Jr. in the cast are Lateria Hope, Lamar Baucom-Slaughter, Terry Allen and Teresa Celeste.
The film centers on Jordan (Lindsey Jr.), an aspiring actor still carrying the emotional weight of his older brother’s tragic death. His life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Jasmine, a poised woman trapped in an abusive relationship and yearning for a better future.
As their relationship deepens, Jordan and Jasmine discover the possibility of healing through one another. But their growing bond also pulls them into a tense world shaped by jealousy, buried secrets, and escalating violence.
According to the creative team, Jordan’s Love draws inspiration from beloved Black romance dramas like Love Jones and Jason’s Lyric, blending that signature emotional intimacy with a grounded, contemporary urban edge.
The film is produced by Jessica Bobé, Paris Jones, and Lindsey Jr. Executive producers include Lindsey Jr. through Icewood Entertainment, alongside Jones and Andre Ray for Paris Films.
“At Paris Films, we’ve always believed in character-driven stories, and Jordan’s Love fits that model perfectly,” said Jones. “When Darnell brought this project to me and I read it, I immediately wanted to come on board. It has that old-school ’90s feel, like Love Jones and Jason’s Lyric, but still feels fresh and relevant for today.”
With production underway, Jordan’s Love looks to continue the legacy of Black romance films that center vulnerability, healing, and connection while introducing that storytelling tradition to a new generation.
