Garcelle Beauvais Expands Lifetime Partnership with Two New Original Movies

Garcelle Beauvais Extends Partnership with Lifetime for Three New Original Movies, Including Terry McMillan Presents

Garcelle Beauvais is continuing her partnership with Lifetime, adding two new original movies to her ever-growing slate as both star and executive producer. The new titles include the emotionally charged thriller Taken at a Truck Stop: A Black Girl Missing Movie and the romance sequel Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted 2 Love.

In Taken at a Truck Stop, Beauvais stars as Kai, a resilient trucker and co-owner of her family’s business who dives into a grassroots rescue mission when her neurodivergent niece is abducted by an online predator. It’s a powerful continuation of the Black Girl Missing franchise, shedding light on the disparities faced by missing Black girls and the power of community when law enforcement falls short. Directed by Kailey and Sam Spear, the script comes from Germaine Hill, Francesca Gailes, and Jacqueline J. Gailes, with production by Navid Soofi for PF Maple Productions.

Meanwhile, Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted 2 Love sees Beauvais returning as Ava, a celebrated chef who appears to have moved on from heartbreak—until her former flame Luke reappears at a culinary event in Ireland. Their simmering attraction threatens to upend everything they’ve rebuilt. Tamara T. Gregory, who also wrote the script, executive produces alongside Terry McMillan, Beauvais, and D’Angela Proctor for Undaunted Content.

These two films are part of an ongoing creative relationship between Beauvais and Lifetime that began last year. Their first collaboration included the acclaimed thriller Black Girl Missing, which Beauvais also executive produced and starred in, along with Abducted at an HBCU: A Black Girl Missing Movie featuring Naturi Naughton, and Tempted by Love, the first installment of Ava’s story. These projects garnered a Gracie Award, an Astra Award, and nominations from the NAACP Image Awards, Black Reel Awards, and more.

“Working with Lifetime has given me the opportunity to expand narratives that are heartfelt, suspenseful, and full of purpose,” said Beauvais. “Both of these films are incredibly special to me, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience them.”

Elaine Frontain Bryant, EVP and Head of Programming for Lifetime, praised Beauvais as “an undeniable creative force” who continues to champion authentic and impactful stories.

With these new projects, Garcelle Beauvais and Lifetime remain committed to spotlighting Black women’s stories, broadening representation, and crafting narratives that resonate deeply. Premiere dates and additional casting details will be revealed in the coming months.
