Netflix has released the trailer for Missing You, the next adaptation in its partnership with bestselling author Harlan Coben. After the massive success of Fool Me Once, which dominated the platform’s charts earlier this year, Coben is back with another gripping mystery set to drop on January 1.
Starring Rosalind Eleazar (Slow Horses), Ashley Walters (Top Boy), Sir Lenny Henry (Three Little Birds), and Richard Armitage (Fool Me Once), Missing You is a story about love, loss, and the devastating secrets that refuse to stay buried.
The series follows Detective Kat Donovan (Eleazar), a Missing Persons specialist whose life was turned upside down when her fiancé, Josh, vanished without a trace eleven years ago. Kat has tried to move on, but when she spots Josh’s profile on a dating app, her world implodes. Now, she’s determined to uncover what really happened to him — and how his disappearance might connect to her father’s murder. But as the trailer warns, “I don’t think you’re going to like the truth.”
Alongside Eleazar and Walters, the ensemble cast features Jessica Plummer (EastEnders), Steve Pemberton (Inside No. 9), Lisa Faulkner (Unforgotten), and James Nesbitt (Stay Close). Armitage, a frequent collaborator with Coben, plays a pivotal role in the mystery.
The show was produced by Quay Street Productions and is part of Coben’s long-term partnership with Netflix, which has already brought us Stay Close, The Stranger, and Fool Me Once. Nicola Shindler, Richard Fee, Danny Brocklehurst, and Victoria Asare-Archer join Coben as executive producers, with Asare-Archer also serving as the lead writer. Directors Nimer Rashed and Isher Sahota round out the creative team.
While Coben’s original novel is set in New York, the series relocates the story to the UK, with filming taking place in Manchester and the surrounding North West region earlier this year. This marks a signature move in Coben’s adaptations, which often feature a fresh geographical twist.
If you loved the twists and turns of Fool Me Once, Missing You promises to deliver even more. The trailer teases high stakes, emotional revelations, and a mystery that challenges everything Kat thought she knew.
Mark your calendars for January 1, when Missing You drops on Netflix. Until then, you can check out the trailer and preview photos that hint at the gripping drama to come. Are you ready to swipe right on this mystery?
