Alicia Keys’ Broadway musical Hell’s Kitchen is preparing to go on the road. The production will kick off its North American multi-year tour in fall 2025, premiering at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square. Running simultaneously with its Broadway run at the Shubert Theatre, the tour will visit more than 30 cities during its first year, with additional locations to be announced in the coming months.
Alicia Keys expressed her excitement about the expansion, stating, “Seeing Hell’s Kitchen on a Broadway marquee has fulfilled one of my earliest and most influential dreams as an artist and a New Yorker. I’m overjoyed by the impact it has already had with audiences that truly mirror the world around us in New York, and I am ecstatic that we can bring the show to so many incredible cities across the country. Let’s gooooo!”

Craig Hassall, President and CEO of Playhouse Square, echoed the enthusiasm, saying, “Cleveland’s enthusiastic and diverse Broadway audiences will certainly give the show a rapturous welcome, and we are so proud that we can lend our expertise and effort to making sure the tour starts off in grand fashion.”
Hell’s Kitchen tells the story of Ali, a 17-year-old girl on a journey to discover freedom, passion, and her identity. Stifled by an overprotective single mother, Ali finds guidance in a neighbor who introduces her to the transformative power of the piano. Set against the rhythms of 1990s New York City, the musical explores themes of self-discovery, family, and community.
The production features music by 16-time Grammy winner Alicia Keys, blending her iconic hits with original songs. Directed by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Rent) and choreographed by four-time Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown (Choir Boy, Once on This Island), the creative team also includes Pulitzer Prize finalist Kristoffer Diaz (The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity) as book writer.
An award-winning team supports the production, including Scenic Designer Robert Brill, Costume Designer Dede Ayite, Lighting Designer Natasha Katz, and Sound Designer Gareth Owen. The music team includes Tony winners Tom Kitt and Adam Blackstone for orchestrations, with arrangements by Alicia Keys and Adam Blackstone.
Since its Broadway debut in March 2024, Hell’s Kitchen has become both a theatrical success and a platform for giving back. In partnership with Alicia Keys’ co-founded organization Keep a Child Alive, $1 from every ticket sold has contributed to supporting children and families affected by HIV/AIDS, with donations reaching $1 million to date.
The show’s Broadway journey began with its premiere at The Public Theater in October 2023, followed by a move to the Shubert Theatre in March 2024. Now, as the North American tour prepares to launch, Hell’s Kitchen is set to bring its powerful story, evocative music, and inspiring message to audiences nationwide.
