‘Hercules’ Live-Action is In The Works and it Will Have a TikTok Influence on It

Hercules live-action.

Who should be cast in Disney’s Hercules live-action remake that’s currently in the works + Tik Tok influence? Here’s what all the buzz is around the upcoming Hercules live-action.

While Disney has not yet released any official information about the cast, there have been rumors and fan suggestions circulating. One of the most important roles to get right is the Muses, as their voices and dances are iconic. Additionally, there have been rumors that Ariana Grande could possibly be considered for the role of Meg.

Actor Danny DeVito, who voiced Philoctetes (Phil) in the original animated film, expressed his desire to return to the role in the live-action remake. He stated, “I am the live-action Hercules! What are you talkin’ about? Philoctetes! If they don’t put me in that, they don’t have a hair on their a–!” It’s worth noting that some actors have reprised their animated roles in live-action adaptations before, such as James Earl Jones returning as Mufasa in “The Lion King” remake and Dwayne Johnson set to reprise his role as Maui in the live-action “Moana” adaptation.

Guy Ritchie, known for directing the 2019 live-action “Aladdin” remake, will be directing “Hercules.” And if he can have his way, we will be getting this rendition as soon as next year sometime, “I want to be as busy as I fucking can [be].” Ritchie continues:

“I used to make one movie a year; I’d quite like to make three movies a year. Because I like it, it’s not hard work for me. Even coming here, we wrapped filming at 04.30, you’re on a plane an hour later; you’re here, you start working, you go on a plane, I’ll land, I’ll go back to work. As long as you’re not playing with jet-lag too aggressively, I’m fucking happy doing that.”

Karen Gilchrist and Jeffrey Silver are producing the film, while Joe and Anthony Russo, famous for their work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will also be producing through their company, AGBO. The scriptwriter will be Dave Callaham, who has written blockbusters such as “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” “Wonder Woman 1984,” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”

The plot of the live-action “Hercules” remake is expected to largely follow the animated film while adding, according to Ritchie, a modern twist inspired by TikTok.

According to Collider “Joe Russo has expressed that the adaptation will be ‘a little bit more experimental in tone, a little bit more experimental in execution.’ The filmmaker does remark that while the remake will take cues from the original musical, their remake will have a “modern” twist to it going on to reveal that there will be a TikTok influence on the film.”

While we await further updates, you can prepare for the live-action remake by watching the original animated version of “Hercules,” which is currently available for streaming on Disney+.

The 1997 animated film “Hercules” brought the mythological tale to life with its beautiful animation and captivating story. Directed and produced by John Musker and Ron Clements, the film follows the epic journey of Hercules, a demi-god with super strength who becomes a champion of the weak.

Hercules was a baby living the godly life on Mount Olympus with his parents Hera and Zeus. Due to a prophecy from the Fates, Zeus’s brother Hades has Hercules kidnapped, so he will not interfere with his plans to take over Mount Olympus. Even though Hades planned to have his minions murder Hercules, he miraculously survived, although he lost his immortality. However, he retained his god-like strength, which caused him some issues while living with humans. He feels he doesn’t belong which inspires him to go on a journey of self-discovery. He meets the satyr, Phil, and the “damsel in distress”, Megara, along the way. Hades is livid when he discovers Hercules is alive and attempts to destroy him. We follow along as Hercules goes the distance to reclaim his godhood and become the hero he was meant to be.

The movie features a soundtrack incorporating gospel, Broadway, and R&B styles, with music written by the legendary composer Alan Menken. Upon its release, “Hercules” received a positive response from audiences and critics alike. It showcased humor and retained the light-heartedness of the original story. The voice cast included Tate Donovan as Hercules, Susan Egan as Megara, Danny DeVito as Philoctetes (Phil), James Woods as Hades, and Rip Torn as Zeus. The film became known for its memorable characters and catchy songs.

At the box office, “Hercules” achieved moderate success, grossing over $250 million worldwide. While it may not have reached the massive commercial heights of some other Disney films, it has since gained a dedicated fan base and continued popularity through home video releases and streaming platforms.
