Peacock Unveils First Trailer for Opioid Murder-Mystery Limited Series 'Long Bright River'

Peacock has released the official trailer for Long Bright River, an upcoming limited series tackling addiction, family trauma, and crime in a gripping suspense thriller. Based on Liz Moore’s bestselling novel, the eight-episode drama stars Amanda Seyfried as a Philadelphia cop whose latest case forces her to confront her past while searching for her missing sister in a community ravaged by the opioid crisis.

Seyfried plays Mickey Fitzpatrick, a dedicated officer patrolling a neighborhood deeply affected by addiction. When a series of murders shakes the community, Mickey fears the worst—her estranged sister, Kacey, an addict, has disappeared, and the case might be more personal than she ever imagined. Nicholas Pinnock co-stars as Truman Dawes, a fellow officer who warns, “There’s a killer on the loose, Mickey. I’m worried about you,” as the trailer builds an atmosphere of tension and urgency.

The cast includes Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, and John Doman, with recurring appearances from Dash Mihok, Britne Oldford, Matthew Del Negro, Harriet Sansom Harris, Patch Darragh, and Perry Mattfeld. The series premieres March 13, with all episodes dropping exclusively on Peacock.

Developed for television by showrunner Nikki Toscano (Hunters, The Offer), Long Bright River is more than a murder mystery—it’s a character-driven exploration of trauma and survival. Toscano, who co-wrote the adaptation with Moore, said the series is designed to challenge stereotypes about addiction, law enforcement, and marginalized communities.

Behind the scenes, Toscano and Moore serve as executive producers alongside Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and Amanda Lewis for Original Film, Amy Pascal for Pascal Pictures, and Russell Rothberg. Hagar Ben-Asher directs the first and fifth episodes of the series, which hails from Sony Pictures Television and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Watch the trailer above, and stream all eight episodes when Long Bright River premieres March 13 on Peacock.
