Netflix Greenlights Global Adaptation of YouTube Reality Hit 'Blue Therapy'

Netflix is tapping into YouTube’s reality goldmine once again, this time bringing Blue Therapy to a worldwide audience. The hit UK-based relationship series, which first exploded on Trend Centrl’s YouTube channel in 2021, is getting a global revamp under the direction of Luti Fagbenle’s newly launched production company, Osun Group.

The original Blue Therapy built a massive grassroots following with its unfiltered deep dives into the complexities of modern relationships. Couples laid bare their struggles in raw, emotionally charged therapy sessions, tackling everything from trust issues to financial woes—often with viral-worthy moments that kept audiences hooked. The format was so successful that Channel 4 picked it up in 2023 under the title In Love & Toxic: Blue Therapy, further cementing its status as a must-watch relationship reality series.

Now, Netflix is taking the show to the next level, reimagining it for its global audience while keeping the heart of what made it a hit. The new adaptation will follow six couples as they navigate their most challenging relationship struggles with the guidance of a seasoned expert. But there’s no guarantee of a happy ending—each pair must decide if they’ll work through their issues or go their separate ways.

“This commission marks a significant milestone for Osun Group as we embark on delivering high-quality, engaging content to a global audience, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Netflix,” said executive producer Luti Fagbenle. “Blue Therapy not only provides an intimate look into the lives and relationships of culturally diverse young couples but also offers a compelling perspective on modern dating and matters of the heart that will resonate universally.”

With Andy Amadi, the show’s original creator, returning as showrunner, Vanessa Van-Yeboah stepping in as series producer, and Fagbenle alongside Anna Edwinson serving as executive producers, the new iteration of Blue Therapy is shaping up to be as gripping as ever.

Netflix’s move to adapt Blue Therapy is part of a larger trend of streamers tapping into YouTube’s massive built-in audiences. The platform recently greenlit Inside Season 2 from YouTube collective The Sidemen, and Amazon has jumped into the mix with Beast Games, a reality series from YouTube megastar MrBeast.

As Netflix continues to blur the lines between traditional and digital-first content, one thing is clear—viral hits like Blue Therapy are proving that compelling storytelling transcends platforms. And with this new adaptation on the horizon, viewers worldwide will soon get a front-row seat to some of the most intense, real-life relationship drama yet.
