Quinta Brunson is heading back to Studio 8H.
The Abbott Elementary creator and star will host Saturday Night Live for the second time on May 3, with breakout artist Benson Boone set to make his SNL debut as the night’s musical guest.
The announcement dropped during this past weekend’s episode, hosted by Jon Hamm with Lizzo bringing the music. (Side note: Kieran Culkin also popped up for a surprise cameo during Hamm’s opening monologue—because why not?)
Brunson first hosted the iconic sketch series in April 2023, and she made it count. Her monologue was equal parts funny and heartfelt, ending with a powerful message honoring teachers:
“Please, remember how important teachers are. Acknowledge the work they do every day and for the love of God, pay them the money they deserve.”
We’ll see what she has up her sleeve this time, but one thing’s for sure—she’s no stranger to the live stage. From her comedy chops to her comedic timing, Brunson knows how to hold it down.
As for Benson Boone, the 21-year-old rising star is fresh off a Coachella high and currently riding the wave of his viral hits like “Beautiful Things.” With a Grammy nomination already under his belt, this SNL moment marks yet another milestone in what’s shaping up to be a standout year for the alt-pop newcomer.
This upcoming episode is part of the show’s milestone 50th season. The final two hosts for the season’s May 10 and May 17 episodes haven’t been announced yet—but if history tells us anything, they’re likely saving a big name or two for the send-off.
So far this season, SNL has packed its host lineup with a little something for everybody: Ariana Grande, Chris Rock, Michael Keaton, Jean Smart, Nate Bargatze, Timothée Chalamet, John Mulaney, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, Martin Short, Paul Mescal, Shane Gillis, Lady Gaga and more have all taken the stage.
On the musical side, we’ve seen the likes of Jelly Roll, GloRilla, Stevie Nicks, Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Hozier, Elton John (with Brandi Carlile!), Gracie Abrams, and Chappell Roan light up the mic.
As for Jon Hamm’s latest stint? It marked his first time hosting in almost 15 years. He used the platform to promote his new Apple TV+ dramedy Your Friends & Neighbors, where he plays a washed-up hedge fund manager turned white-collar criminal. (Yes, very “Wall Street meets Weekend at Bernie’s.”)
Lizzo, meanwhile, took the SNL stage for the fourth time and teased new music from her upcoming album Love in Real Life. Since her About Damn Time Grammy win in 2023, she’s continued to solidify herself as one of this generation’s boldest performers.
But back to Quinta—because she’s the moment. Tune in May 3 on NBC or stream it live on Peacock to catch her back in action, and to see if Benson Boone brings the house down on his first SNL gig.
