NBCUniversal has officially greenlit a series order for “Suits: L.A.,” a spinoff set in the same universe as the original legal drama “Suits.” Announced on July 19, the series will feature a new cast of characters navigating the legal landscape of Los Angeles, with a first look already released by the network. It’s one of two series orders NBC handed out, the other being ‘Grosse Point Society Starring Aja Naomi King.
Stephen Amell, best known for his role in “Arrow,” will headline the series as Ted Black. In the initial promotional image, Black is depicted at his desk, embodying the role of a former federal prosecutor from New York who has redefined his career by representing high-profile clients in Los Angeles.
According to the show’s description, Black’s law firm is at a pivotal crisis point, forcing him to embrace a role he previously disdained. The narrative will explore the dynamics between Black and his team, who grapple with personal and professional conflicts.

The ensemble cast includes Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins, a determined and ambitious rising star in Black’s firm. Other cast members are Troy Winbush as Kevin, Alice Lee as Leah, Bryan Greenberg as Rick Dodsen, and “The Walking Dead” alum Josh McDermitt as Stuart Lane, co-founder of Black Lane Law.
Originally announced by NBCUniversal in February, “Suits: L.A.” is produced by Aaron Korsh, the creator of the original “Suits” series. The spinoff follows a surge in popularity of the original show on Netflix, where it set a new record for the most viewed acquired series after its addition in June 2023. The original “Suits” series, featuring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Meghan Markle, Rick Hoffman, and Sarah Rafferty, aired from June 2011 to September 2019, chronicling the story of Mike Ross (Adams), a lawyer with no formal legal education who fakes his way into a top law firm.
The original series also inspired another spinoff, “Pearson,” centered on Gina Torres’s character, which aired for one season in 2019.
Although there have been no announcements regarding appearances by the original “Suits” cast members in the new series, Patrick J. Adams has expressed openness to joining the project.
“Suits: L.A.” joins NBC’s lineup of new dramas and comedies, which includes “Brilliant Minds,” “The Hunting Party,” “St. Denis Medical,” “Happy’s Place,” and recently greenlit series Green Point Garden Society. The exact premiere date for “Suits: L.A.” is yet to be determined and it is unsure if it will premiere during the 2024-25 season.
