Joe Morton Takes on Major Recurring Role in FOX Comedy’s ‘Going Dutch’

Joe Morton Joins Cast of FOX Comedy 'Going Dutch' in Recurring Role

Emmy Award-winning actor Joe Morton has officially joined the cast of FOX’s upcoming comedy series Going Dutch, taking on a major recurring role alongside series star Denis Leary. Morton will portray General Davidson, the long-time adversary of Leary’s character, Colonel Patrick Quinn.

Going Dutch follows the story of Colonel Quinn, a brash and outspoken U.S. Army officer who is reassigned to a remote base in the Netherlands after an explosive rant. Once a decorated veteran of every major war zone, Quinn finds himself exiled to a base with no combat mission—its only notable features being a gourmet commissary, a bowling alley, and a U.S. Army-exclusive cheese shop. The series combines military life with comedic misadventures as the Colonel tries to impose military discipline on a base full of misfits, all while navigating his complicated relationship with his estranged daughter, Captain Maggie Quinn, played by Taylor Misiak.

Morton’s General Davidson is a political and manipulative figure, representing the antithesis of Quinn’s battlefield-driven career. Davidson has always managed to rise through the ranks by mastering the art of military politics, while the straightforward Colonel has struggled to play the game. Their decades-long rivalry takes center stage as Davidson engineers the Colonel’s humiliating reassignment, using his expertise in psychological warfare to turn Quinn’s punishment into a deeply personal one.

Also joining the cast in heavily recurring roles is Catherine Tate, who will play Katja Vanderhoff, a Dutch businesswoman with a PhD in intersectional feminism and a surprising romantic interest in the brash Colonel. Despite her attraction to Quinn, Katja remains steadfast in her personal principles, ensuring that any potential relationship will require significant changes on Quinn’s part.

Rounding out the diverse ensemble are Laci Mosley as Sergeant Dana Conway, a crafty supply officer who views the European post as a paradise rather than a punishment; Danny Pudi as Major Abraham Shah, Quinn’s loyal but increasingly self-reflective executive officer; Hal Cumpston as Corporal Elias Papadakis, a tech-savvy but unfit soldier; and Dempsey Bryk as Private Anthony “BA” Chapman, an eager but intellectually limited soldier known for his physical prowess.

The series, created by Brockmire showrunner Joel Church-Cooper, promises a mix of sharp humor and emotional depth as Colonel Quinn grapples with his past accomplishments and present challenges. Executive producers include Church-Cooper, Denis Leary, and Jack Leary. Going Dutch is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios, with global distribution handled by Fox Entertainment Global.

The comedy marks Fox Entertainment Studios’ second foray into fully-owned live-action comedy, following the success of Animal Control. Viewers can expect a unique blend of military satire, family dynamics, and offbeat humor when Going Dutch premieres.
