HBO just locked in the return date for The Last of Us—mark your calendars for Sunday, April 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The seven-episode second season will also be available to stream on Max at the same time.
Season 2 picks up five years after we last saw Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey). The world is even more brutal, their bond is tested like never before, and new faces are about to shake things up in a big way. This season officially dives into The Last of Us Part II, but don’t expect the whole game’s story just yet—HBO has already hinted that the series could stretch across four seasons.
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are back, along with Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Joining them is a lineup of fresh faces: Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. And in a surprise casting move, Catherine O’Hara will guest star in a mystery role.
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann continue to lead the series as executive producers, staying true to the The Last of Us legacy while expanding the story for TV. The show remains a co-production between HBO and Sony Pictures Television, alongside PlayStation Productions, Word Games, Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
With an award-winning first season and a story that’s only getting deeper, The Last of Us is gearing up for another intense ride. The countdown to April is officially on.
